PageGroup, the specialist recruitment company, and Teenage Cancer Trust, UK’s leading charity dedicated to supporting young people with cancer aged 13-24, have announced a two-year charity partnership that aims to raise over £200,000. After an extensive application process, PageGroup selected Teenage Cancer Trust in a UK-wide staff vote and pledged to raise enough money to fund 8,000 hours of vital care and support via their Expert Care Programme. The Expert Care Programme will include the funding of youth support coordinators, specialist units and expert nurses in teenage and young adult cancer care.Oliver Watson, Managing Director at PageGroup, said:“As a worldwide leader in specialist recruitment, we understand better than anyone the importance of having the right people to get a job done. We are thrilled to help Teenage Cancer Trust support their highly-skilled and dedicated workforce to continuously provide the best possible care and treatment for young people with cancer. “We were shocked to discover that cancer kills more young people than any other disease in the UK and seven people aged 13-24 are diagnosed every day. It’s important for us to support charity projects where we see a tangible difference and the Expert Care Programme is an exemplary model of this. Teenage Cancer Trust patients will receive one hour of expert care for every £25 raised by a PageGroup employee,” said Mr Watson. Since 2006, PageGroup has raised over £1m for charity through various partnerships, including Breast Cancer Care, the British Heart Foundation, Great Ormond Street Hospital and most recently, Alzheimer’s Research UK. These partnerships have inspired PageGroup staff to scale great heights, pace the streets in marathons, compete in triathlons, cycle hundreds of miles between capital cities, and hold an Apprentice-style fundraising contest which pits teams against each other to raise the most money in one day. Hundreds of employees also come together each year to partake in PageGroup’s biggest fundraising challenge, the Yorkshire Three Peaks, which will be taking place on Saturday 6 June this year. “Our employees welcome a challenge and I’m confident they’ll go above and beyond to raise vital funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. We’re a company that truly believes in giving back to local communities and our charity partnerships are a testament to that commitment,” added Mr Watson.Siobhan Dunn, Chief Executive of Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Teenage Cancer Trust specialist nurses and youth support coordinators make a huge difference to the experience of young people with cancer in hospitals, providing tailored, individual care and the best possible support and information. By funding an incredible 8,000 hours of their vital care, PageGroup will be directly improving the lives of young people with cancer. We feel very lucky to be working with PageGroup on this partnership.”
